Touch Controls That Don't Fight You

Touch Controls That Don't Fight You

A great game can be ruined by controls that don't fit a touchscreen. After playing dozens of titles this year, I've started noticing the small choices that separate comfort from frustration.

The best ones keep interactive elements away from where your thumbs rest, so you don't cover the action. Neon Drift Alley nails this with a simple tap-to-drift scheme that never crowds the screen.

Feedback matters too. A little vibration or a clear visual cue when something lands makes even a simple flick feel intentional, which is part of why Big Bass Fishin's reeling feels so nice.

If a game needs a wall of buttons to work, it probably wasn't designed for a phone. The good ones do more with less.
